What or where is your happy place? As far as a destination, its Formentera (Spain). This was the last trip as a family that we truly felt transported. Equally enjoyed as a family — adults and kids alike — we become one with nature and it was truly a beautiful trip. Not necessarily a destination, but my home is also my happy place. I’m a homebody, and this past year in quarantine we have put so much love and time and energy into making our home a wonderful place. It’s a conversation my husband and I have a lot — how much we’ve accomplished and how much we love our home.
What do you do to reset? Honestly, I go off social! I spend SO much time on social media, so I just take a “social blackout” to focus on my family, enjoy cooking, and having no social responsibilities. I love what I do, but its often SO refreshing to just disconnect and have some true face time with my loved ones.
I admire the way you lend your platform and voice to positive conversations and amplifying voices. Can you share why this is important for you? I, by nature, am a very politically and socially passionate person. Speaking up about the things I care about is definitely tough with what I do, especially without ruffling a few feathers within my audience. But honestly, I can’t worry about that. I think its so important to speak your voice and your opinions and go to sleep at night assured that you have done all you can to direct your moral compass in the most passionate way you can. Obviously, in a way thats respectful, kind and tasteful but life is too short not to speak your mind and be passionate about what you believe in.
What does beauty look like to you? I think beauty looks like joy. Happiness is beautiful and its very infectious when someone has that joy it radiates and its empowering. Beauty is also confidence…. Someone that is strong, confident and self-assured — that feels so beautiful and empowering and incredibly admirable.
What is your favourite, most treasured item in your wardrobe? I bought myself a Chanel bag after many years of struggle, dedication and hard work. The first time I bought myself something of high monetary value — its symbolic of how proud I am of growing Lucy’s Whims from the ground up and I’ll never get rid of it! My wedding veil is also something with a lot of sentimental value — it symbolizes my Spanish heritage and something I’ll treasure forever.
Tell us about another female-led business you love that you would like to shout out? This is a really, really hard one. There are SO many that I love and am grateful to know personally. The ones that stand out most are: Jewelry
